7.1.5 ERROR RATE MEASUREMENT
How to enter Error-Rate Measurement mode
Press the ESC key then the SIDE-B key of the remote control unit for service to enter Error-Rate Measurement mode. During playback of
DVD-VIDEO, Error-Rate Measurement mode can also be entered by pressing the ESC key then the PLAY key.
How to exit Error-Rate Measurement mode
Press the ESC key. The error-rate display disappears, and Error-Rate Measurement mode is exited.
Note:
The error rate cannot be measured in VR mode or during CD playback.
Functions

Video-mode recording (recording medium)
In this mode, DVD recording is automatically performed for 10 seconds, the recorded DVD title is played back while the error rate is
being measured, then as soon as playback of the recorded DVD title is finished, playback stops.*1 After error-rate measurement is
finished, the average error rate will be displayed on the FL display and OSD. Only in a case in which the calculation of the average error
rate fails, the tray will open.

DVD-VIDEO (playback medium)
Only during playback, when the ESC key then the SIDE-B key (or the ESC key then the PLAY key) are pressed, the error rate is
calculated and displayed on the FL display and OSD.(

DVD recording starts.
DVD recording is performed for 10 seconds.
The recorded DVD title is played back while the error rate is being measured,
then as soon as playback is finished it stops.
