Output circuit defective.
Short circuit in output
Disconnect wiring at
circuit.
battery post of alternator.
Turn on master switch.
Disconnect each leg of
output circuit, working
from the alternator towards
the bus bar. Replace
component or wire which
was isolated as defective.
(See schematic.)
Battery installed with
Remove battery and
reversed polarity.
reinstall with correct
polarity.
Battery charged
Remove battery. Connect
backwards.
load such as landing light
lamp or similar load and
discharge battery. Recharge
with correct polarity and
test each cell for signs of
damage due to reversed
charging.
NOTE
This type of condition can
only occur in a case where
a discharged battery has
been removed from the
airplane and put on a
charger with the polarity
reversed. This reversal in
polarity cannot occur in
the airplane due to any
fault in the alternator
system.
