5.Communications
Transmitting data from the computer to the DA700/DA750
is by way of the parallel interface or the serial interface. The
printer automatically senses the interface through which data
is being sent. When the computer uses the DA700/DA750’s
parallel interface no communication settings are required.
When the serial interface is used the DA700/DA750 Com-
muications menu settings must be configured to match the
computer settings. Configure the computer to use either
the XON/XOFF or DTR handshaking settings to communi-
cate with the DA700/DA750. These sub menus are used to
change the DA700/DA750 serial communications:
A. Baud Rate
B. Parity
C. Word Length and
D. Line Termination.
NOTE:
For DOS systems only:
Enter the MODE command
each time the computer is turned on, or it can be put into the
autoexec.bat file.
For Parallel:
Type
MODE LPT1:,,P
and press Enter. “Infi-
nite Retry On Parallel Printer Time-Out” will appear on your
computer’s screen.
For Serial
(at 9600 Baud, no parity, 8 bits, 1 stop bit and
continuous retry on all time outs): Type
MODE COM1:9600,N,8,1,P
and press Enter.
