9. Upgrading Firmware

Firmware is a name given to the software stored inside HD MediaBox - it controls the functionality of HD MediaBox.
It is important that your firmware is up-to-date, as new features, bug fixes, and enhanced operation may be
available for your player.
New HD MediaBox firmware will be available on the Pixel Magic Support Download section and the Support
Forums.

The firmware for HD MediaBox will be called MediaBox.bin and will be contained within a .zip file.
Upgrade your firmware by following these simple steps:

Firmware Version Check
Enter the
SETUP
menu by turning on HD MediaBox then pressing the
key on the Remote Control.
The current firmware version will be displayed in the bottom right hand corner of the screen.
If the firmware available for download is newer than the version installed in your HD MediaBox (i.e. a higher
version number), continue to the next section
9.2
Downloading and Transferring the New Firmware
If the firmware available for download is newer than the version installed in your HD MediaBox, follow these steps to
bring your firmware up-to-date.
Download the new firmware zip file from the Pixel Magic website (links above) to a PC.
Unzip the file and you should see a file called MediaBox.bin
Connect HD MediaBox to this PC via the included USB cable (see
section 4.3.1
).
Connect HD MediaBox to a power socket and leave it in Standby Mode.
Your PC will detect HD MediaBox as an external drive (and assign it a drive letter).
Copy the newly downloaded MediaBox.bin file into the ROOT (i.e. not inside any folders) of the HD
MediaBox internal HDD.
