Troubleshooting: Writing CD-R and CD-RW Discs
Symptom
Possible Causes
Solutions
Using authoring
software other than
that bundled with
PlexWriter 40/12/40U.
Use the authoring software
provided with the unit.
To use other types of authoring
software, contact the supplier and
ensure the software supports the
PlexWriter PX-W4012TU drive.
Supported software lists can also
be found on the Plextor web site at
www.plextor.com.
CD-R/RW media not
appropriate.
Use CD-R/RW media supported
by Plextor. Supported media lists
can be found on the Plextor web
site at www.plextor.com.
Disc inserted upside
down.
Reinsert the disc with the label
right side up.
Defective CD-R/RW
media.
CD-R/RW media may be dirty,
scratched or damaged. Re-write
using another CD-R/RW media.
Computer is short of
hard disk capacity.
Generally, 1.2 to 2 times the size
of the write data is required. This
may vary according to the write
method.
Delete files from your hard disk to
free up sufficient space; or use
another hard disk.
No power to
PlexWriter.
Ensure the power cord and AC
Adapter are securely connected
.
Cannot write to
CD-R or
CD-RW.
USB cable is not
connected properly
Ensure the USB cable is securely
connected between the computer
and the PlexWriter, and that the
cable is not damaged.
