Registration Reference Manual
List Patients within a Certain Distance of Multiple Postcodes
This utility is similar to the
Utility to list patients within certain distance of a
postcode
, but allows for more than one postcode to be checked at a time. It provides a
count and, optionally, details of patients living within a calculated, specified distance
of a list of postcodes, provided in a UNIX file.
The upload file should contain one postcode on each line.
Directions
1.
Access the Additional Registration Utilities menu, display the menu page
showing the
List patients within a certain distance of multiple
postcodes
option and enter the relevant option number.
2.
Enter the Unix path and filename for the upload file. The system will check
the validity of the file.
If problems are found within the file – with invalid postcodes, or postcodes
which have no grid reference, the system will give you the option to list
where the problems can be found. Enter
Y
to list the errors.
If no problems are found with the file, enter
Y
to process it.
3.
Enter the full postcode of the location you are interested in, for example a
practice or pharmacy.
4.
Enter the distance, in kilometres, within which you wish to report on
patients. The system will issue a warning if you enter a distance greater
than 10km and ask you to confirm this is OK. Enter
Y
.
5.
Enter
Y
to include patients with a dispensing flag,
N
to exclude them, or
A
for all patients.
6.
Enter a practice code to select patients in that practice or
A
for all
practices.
7.
Enter
Y
to if you want to include patients registered with ZZZ dummy
GPs. This prompt is only shown of you select all practices.
8.
The multiple records prompt/shortest calculated distance prompt allows
you to specify whether you want the job to report a patient each time they
are found to be within the specified distance from a postcode or only on the
shortest calculated distance. (See the note below about distance
calculations.)
9.
Enter the email address to which the notification should be sent.
10.

at the
Patient Details Required
prompt if you want to create a
downloadable file containing the patients’ details.
11.
If you entered
Y
above, enter the Unix pathname for the download file.
