Deductions – Introduction
Version: 2.16
Section 4
1-3
Deducted Patient Records
Deducted patient details can be accessed on the following screens:
•
Deducted Index (DI)
•
Deducted Patient identity details (DP)
•
Deducted Notes (DN)
•
Deducted Prescription Prepayment/Exemption (DE)
•
Deducted Historic details (DH)
•
Deducted NHS Number Index (ND)
All deducted patients, except those removed using codes DDR (Deducted at Doctor’s
Request) and DPR (Deducted at Patient’s Request), will have a deducted patient
record. DDR and DPR deductions remove the patient from a GP’s list, and re-register
him/her against a dummy GP (e.g. ZZZ001). These codes will not remove the patient
from the live database.
Address Link Status
To ensure that patient addresses are accurate and conform to an agreed format, every
patient address on the ‘live’ database is matched against the Royal Mail Postcode
Address File (PAF). Once matched, patient addresses may be Linked to the PAF
address. Unlinked addresses are those which have either never been Linked or have
become Unlinked.
When deducted from the ‘live’ database, the patient’s address will have the
Link/Unlink status removed.
Patients deducted with the codes DDR and DPR are not removed from the ‘live’
database, and their Linked/Unlinked address status will therefore remain the same.
Child Health Surveillance
If the patient has a current Child Health Surveillance claim on the CM screen, an
entry will be created on the CHSL Finance Job report.
If the patient is registered with the GP/Partnership currently providing the child health
surveillance, the claim is automatically cancelled.
If the patient receives Child Health Surveillance from a GP or partnership with whom
he/she is not registered3, the claim will have to be cancelled manually on the CM
screen.
Contraceptive Details
If, at the time of the deduction, the patient has current contraceptive details on the CS
screen, details will be passed to the job AJ-CSCH (Contraceptive Charges).

Even if the GP or partnership has an informal group practice agreement
