Figure 6: “Patient Sex is Different on the PDS” Pop-up Box
You will be able to accept the match, but you should confirm the patient’s
correct gender with their practice before doing so. If the patient’s gender
within the received Acceptance is incorrect, you should amend this to the
correct value before re-tracing the patient against the PDS; if the patient’s
gender within the received Acceptance is correct, you will be able to
proceed with the patient registration as part of which you will correct the
patient’s gender value on the PDS.
If you press
A
to accept the match, any differences between the data on the NHAIS
system and the PDS will be highlighted, giving you the option to choose whether the
details held on the NHAIS system or the PDS are correct:
•
Surname – the PDS-sourced surname will override the surname, or previous
surname you have entered if the advanced trace match was obtained on the
basis of either value being entered;
•
Forenames;
•
Title;
•
Date of Birth; and
•
Sex.
See
Update Matches
below for further information.
After you have accepted the match and then accepted or rejected any data differences
you will be able to either:
•
blank out or change the
NHS number
field and amend the core patient
information, thereby initiating a further trace against the PDS; or
•
leave the returned NHS number value as it is. Regardless of any changes
subsequently made to the patient’s core details, the application will continue to
revalidate and update the patient’s details.
NOTE
The use of wildcard dates of birth, surname, previous surname and
forenames as part of the update will not be permitted.
If a patient’s details have changed, for example, if they have moved, the pop-up box
shown in
Figure 5
allows you to compare the patient’s current details held on the PDS
against corresponding previous values on the LX screen. Press
P
to compare the GP
code and address details.
