GMS Nursing/RI Postcodes – HO
HO (GMS Nursing/Residential Institute Postcodes)
Screen
This screen is used to maintain a list of valid postcodes for GMS nursing/residential
homes. If your system has the residences postcode checking facility switched on (SP
screen, qualifier G), additional validation will be made against all incoming patient
registrations and amendments as follows:
•
If a patient record has an RI code that is defined (on the RI screen) as being a
nursing/residential home for the New GP Contract, the patient’s postcode
must
be listed on the HO screen; if it is not, the acceptance/amendment will be
allocated an exclusion code (AJ-BOAJ) and that acceptance/amendment will
have to be processed manually
or
it will be rejected on the ID screen.
Using the HO Screen
•
To enter additional postcodes, call up the screen with a key of
HO
with a
blank qualifier.
Upon entering the HO screen, any postcodes which have already been set up
will be displayed along with their (optional) corresponding names of residence.
Use the
Page On
/
Page Back
keys to scroll through the records.
•
To display postcodes from a particular point, enter a key of
HO
with a value as
the qualifier. This will display postcodes alphanumerically, beginning with the
value entered.
An existing entry in the postcode table can either have its name of residence amended
by entering
A
in the
Action
column, or it can be deleted completely by entering a
D
in
the
Action
column.
New postcodes can be added to the table by entering them one at a time, along with a
corresponding name of residence if required, at the top of the table. Note that it will be
necessary to page back to the first page if more than one page full of postcodes has
been entered in the table.
Postcodes will be validated using the system’s usual validation method. This will
accept most postcodes in the following six formats (where ‘A’ denotes an uppercase
alphabetic character, and ‘N’ denotes a numeric), but note that there are additional
rules preventing use of certain characters in specified positions even within postcodes
in these formats:
