UNIX/PC File Structure
If downloaded to UNIX, the file extension

added to the pathname. This extension will be displayed on the AJ-Q to enable you to
identify the correct download.

represents month and day.

Example of the File Structure
The file structure given below is for both UNIX and PC downloads. However, the
inclusion of the Temporary Resident details (below the totals row) will only be found
on PC downloads for the PPA. This line will not be included on any other download
report.

This example shows a portion of data for a single GP. The comma character is used as
the data delimiter.
1st Field
National GP Code, for example, 634561
2nd Field
Practice Code, for example, 634561
3rd Field
HA cipher that the GP is responsible to, for example, EX
4th Field
Age band description, for example, age 85. PPA standard
report is in single year age bands starting from 0 and ending
with the age of the oldest patient registered with the GP. A user
defined report would show the age band range you selected.
5th Field
Count – prescribing male, for example, if this field was set to 6
it would indicate that 6 male patients of the age indicated, were
registered with the GP and that they had a prescribing status.
6th Field
Count – prescribing female, for example, if this field was set to
1 it would indicate that 1 female patient, of the age indicated,
was registered with the GP and that had a prescribing status.
7th Field
Count – prescribing indeterminate, for example, if this field
was set to 5 it would indicate that 5 patients of indeterminate
sex, of the age indicated, were registered with the GP and that
they had a prescribing status.
