DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS
• This Solar Battery Backup is designed to store solar energy for the PondMAX Solar Pump Kits and has
enough charge to run pump for 3-4 hours on its own.
• 1 Year Warranty
• The battery backup has built-in overcharge protection.
• LED indicator lights provide the working status of the battery backup.
• The output voltage can be adjusted in the range of 12V-24V, for optimal pump performance.
INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE
INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE
1. Connect the “INPUT” cable from the battery backup, to the solar panel (provided separately with
solar pump kit) and tighten the threaded connection.
2. Make sure the pump is fully underwater prior to operation.
3. Insert the pump cable to the “OUTPUT” socket of the battery backup, and tighten the threaded
connection.
4. Press the switch on the battery backup to the “System On” position. The green LED should then
illuminate and the solar pump should start to operate. However the red LED may illuminate while it
operates for the first time, if the battery lost charge while in inventory. In this case the battery will
need to be charged for 2 to 3 hours while the solar panel is in direct sunshine, then the green LED
should illuminate to indicate that battery is charged and the pump will begin to work.
5. The pump will automatically stop running when the battery runs out of charge and the red LED
should illuminate.
6. The pump will automatically resume running when the battery is recharged to its starting voltage and
the green LED illuminates.
7. If you want to have longer operating time in the evening, then press the switch on the battery backup
to the “System Off” position during the day and press to “System On” position whenever you need it.
Note: The battery will be always charge when the solar panel is in the sunlight no matter whether the
switch is on “System On” or “System Off” position! The system will automatically cut off the charging
current when the battery reaches maximum charging capacity (fully charged).
If after a period of time the RED indicating light is always illuminated, and the pump does not operate
even though the solar module is in full sunlight, please troubleshoot per the below possible failures:
• Bad or no connection to the solar module-check connection to the solar module.
• The battery is out of its service life and needs to be replaced.
