Troubleshooting
This chapter provides you a few useful tips to quickly get your ROBO-8712E series
running with no failure. As basic hardware installation has been addressed in
Chapter 3, this chapter will basically focus on system integration issues, in terms of
backplane setup, BIOS setting, and OS diagnostics.

Quick installation Guide
Backplane
ROBO-8712E series is a full-sized Signal Board Computer, and therefore is only able
to run on PICMG PCI/ISA Backplane. To know whether your Backplane is PICMG
PCI/ISA Backplane, please contact with vendor or manufacturer.
P4 Power Connector
ROBO-8712E series requires power drawing from two power connectors (J1 and J2),
please connect both power connectors. If J2 isn’t connected, it could also cause
system failed to boot up. (Figure 5-1)

ATX Power Setting
This section would be more likely to introduce you how to set up ATX mode on
your ROBO-8712E series. Please refer to the following instruction.
Step 1: If you want to use ATX mode, please removed the jumper on pin 3 (PS-ON)
and pin 4 (GND) of backplane ATX P/S control connector. And connect 4
pins power cable. (Figure 5-2)
