Selecting torque
Select torque by turning the torque selector
(2) to the required position. The higher the
setting, the higher the torque applied. If the
drill symbol is selected, there is no torque
limit.
Replacing drills or bits
Switch the direction selector to its centre
position.
Hold the contra-ring (A) securely and turn
the outer part of the drill chuck (B) to open
the holders in the drill chuck.
Insert the drill required or a bit holder into
the chuck. Tighten the outer part of the drill
chuck until the jaws hold the drill or the bit
holder tight.
Check that the drill or the bit holder is
correctly fi tted in the centre of the chuck.
Use
Fit a suitable drill or bit for the task. Select
direction and torque.
Start the drill by pressing the on/off
trigger (5). The LED work light (8) comes
on automatically. The longer the trigger is
depressed, the faster the chuck will revolve.
Stop the drill by releasing the on/off trigger.
It will take a little while for the chuck to
come to a complete stop.
Allow the motor to reach full speed before
starting to drill.
Do not press the drill too hard. Select a low
speed for screwdriving, large drills or hard
materials and a higher speed for small drills
or softer materials.
The torque will cause the drill to switch
off at a specifi c load, to prevent it
overtightening the screw or damaging the
slot in the screw. Select a high torque for
drilling or for inserting screws into hard
surfaces where there is a lot of resistance.
Select a low torque for inserting screws into
soft or brittle surfaces.
A spirit level (3) may help to keep the drill
horizontal when drilling.
Useful tips for drilling
When drilling in smooth surfaces, e.g. tiles,
stick a piece of strong tape on the drill site
before drilling to prevent the bit slipping.
Always punch the drill site when drilling
steel.
