Problem Cause
Solution
Engine doesn’t start
1. Fuel tank is empty
2. There is dirt or water in the fuel
3. Fuel is the wrong blend
4. Spark plug is dirty
5. Spark plug malfunctions
6. Spark plug is loose
7. Engine or electrical system malfunctions
1. Fill up with fuel
2. Empty the fuel tank, and fill with fresh
fuel
3. Empty the fuel tank, and fill with the
right fuel
4. Clean or replace the spark plug
5. Replace spark plug
6. Tighten the spark plug and the spark
plug cap
7. Have your bush cutter inspected and
possibly repaired by an expert
Engine doesn’t idle
1. Air filter is filthy
2. Fuel is the wrong blend
3. Idling speed is to low
1. Clean or replace the air filter
2. Empty the fuel tank, and fill with the
right fuel
3. Have your bush cutter adjusted by an
expert
Engine does not
accelerate
1. Fuel is the wrong blend
2. Fuel system is defective
1. Empty the fuel tank, and fill with the
right fuel
2. Have the fuel system inspected and
possibly repaired by an expert
Exhaust fumes are
sparse, and carburettor
stammers
Silencer (1) is clogged up by oil residue
Remove oil residue
Engine components are
not working
1. The installed fittings are blocked
2. Air filter is dirty
3. Fuel is the wrong blend
4. Carburettor is adjusted wrongly
1. Switch off the bush cutter, and remove
grass from the installed fittings
2. Clean or replace air filter
3. Empty the fuel tank, and fill with the
right fuel
4. Have your bush cutter adjusted by an
expert
Engine is leaking
There is leakage in the collector surface between
cylinders and crank casing
Have the engine inspected or repaired by an
expert
The engine produces a
knocking sound
1. Stamp, die rings, cylinders, die bars or crank
shaft bearing is defective
2. Octane number of the fuel is wrong
1. Have the engine inspected or repaired by
an expert
2. Use unleaded fuel with the right octane
number in the fuel
The bush cutter doesn’t
advance any more nylon
line
1. Nylon line spool is blocked
2. There is no more nylon line on the spool
3. Nylon line gets entangled or melts and gets
stuck to the spool
1. Switch off the bush cutter, and remove
grass from the spool
2. Put new nylon line on the spool
3. Put new nylon line on the spool
Engine stalls
1. There is water in the fuel
2. Spark plug or switch spools are badly
installed
3. You’ve run out of fuel
4. Spark plug is damaged
1. Empty the fuel tank, and fill with clean
fuel
2. Have engine adjusted by an expert
3. Fill up with fuel
4. Clean or replace spark plug
