WORK AREA
1. Operate in a safe work environment. Keep your work area clean and well lit.
2. Do not use in the presence of flammable gases or liquids.
a. Do not use pressurized starting fluids with the generator, because the vapors are flammable.
3. Keep anyone not wearing appropriate safety equipment away from the work area.
PERSONAL SAFETY
CAUTION! Wear protective equipment approved by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) or the
American National Standards Institute (ANSI) when using the tool.
1. Head Protection
a. Always wear impact-resistant safety goggles that provide both front and side protection.
b. Wear earplugs or hearing protector earmuffs if the engine or work environment is noisy.
2. Gloves
a. Wear gloves that provide protection based on the thermal (heat) levels generated by the generator.
3. Protective Clothing
a. Wear protective clothing designed for the work environment and the engine.
4. Foot Protection:
a. Wear steel-toed footwear or steel toecaps to prevent injury from falling objects.
b. Non-skid footwear is recommended for maintaining proper footing and balance.
5. Control the engine, personal movement, and the work environment to avoid personal injury or damage
to the generator.
a. Keep articles of clothing, jewelry, hair, etc., away from moving parts to avoid entanglement with the
engine. Traumatic amputation or severe laceration could result.
b. Do not operate any tool or machine when tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol,
or medications.
c. Do not overreach when operating the engine. Proper footing and balance enables better control of
equipment in unexpected situations.
SPECIFIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
WARNING! This generator produces enough electric power to cause a serious shock or electrocution
if misused.
1. All users must understand the operation of all controls and learn how to quickly stop the generator in case
of emergency. Understand the use of all generator controls, output receptacles, and connections.
2. If the generator is stored outdoors and is unprotected from the weather, check all of the electrical
components on the control panel before each use. Moisture or ice can cause a malfunction or short circuit
in the electrical components, which could result in electrocution.
3. Do not connect to a building’s electrical system unless a qualified electrician has installed an
isolation switch.
4. All circuit maintenance and installation must be performed by a qualified service professional and should
meet all relevant standards.
5. The engine and exhaust become very hot during operation. Severe thermal burns can occur on contact,
especially with the muffler.
a. Keep the generator at least 3 feet (1 meter) away from buildings and other equipment during operation.
b. Remove accumulated debris from the muffler and cylinder area. Combustible debris, such as leaves,
grass, brush, etc., can catch fire if they come in to contact with a hot engine.
c. Do not place anything on the generator while it is running.
d. Allow the muffler, engine cylinder, and fins to cool before allowing the unit to touch grass-covered or
brush-covered unimproved land.
