3. Push the on / off switch (2) to the “On” position. See figure 10.
4. Move the engine speed lever (3) to the “Fast” position. See figure 10.
Fig. 10
5. Move the choke lever (4) to the “On” position. See figure 11.
Fig. 11
6. Grasp the recoil handle and pull slowly until slight resistance is felt. Then pull the handle rapidly to
overcome compression, prevent kickback and start the engine.
WARNING! Starter cord kickback (rapid retraction) can result in bodily injury. Kickback will pull the operators
hand and arm toward the engine faster than you can let go. Broken bones, fractures, bruises or sprains
could result.
CAUTION! If excessive fuel is present in the air / fuel mixture causing a “flooded” condition, move the choke
lever to the “Run” position and pull the recoil handle repeatedly until the engine starts.
7. Move the choke lever to the “Run” position a short distance at a time over several seconds in warm
weather or over several minutes in cold weather. Let the engine run smoothly before each change. Operate
with the choke in the “Run” position.
NOTE:
It may take a few minutes for the water pump to begin pumping water.
8. Adjusting the engine speed controls the pump output. Moving the engine speed lever in the “Fast”
direction will increase the pump output, and moving the engine speed lever in the “Slow” direction will
decrease the pump output.
