Decalcify
Calcium deposits on the heating
element are safe, but can affect
the appearance and taste of the
water and thus your prepared
drinks or food.
Regular descaling also saves
energy and increases the lifetime
of the Vegimat.
The calcification of the heating
element is dependent upon the
calcium content (hardness) of
your water supply.
The higher the lime content, the
more often you should descale
the Vegimat, especially if there is
visible calcification.
Normally, a decalcification about
every 2-3 months is sufficient, if
used daily.
Out of consideration for the
environment, we recommend to
decalcify with a mixture of
vinegar or citric acid and water
in the ratio 1:3 (1 part
vinegar / citric acid to 3 parts
water)
1.
The vinegar solution must not
boil, as this will be strongly
foaming at boiling. Therefore
just use the program BLEND to
decalcify.
1.
Provide adequate ventilation in
the room.
2.
Fill the pot with 0.5 liters your
decalcify solution. Use warm or
hot water.
3.
Start the BLEND Program (see
page 16).
4.
After the end of the program (2
times beep) you unplug the
power cord and allow the unit
to sit in the solution for 1-2
hours.
5.
Pour out the water and rinse
the bottom side and the pot
several times with clear water.
