1. Remove the front and rear drive belt covers, see
"Belt Guard Cover Replacement" on
Belt tension verification check
2. Set the resistance to maximum to hold the pedals from turning (resistance knob fully
clockwise).
3. Verify the belt tension by measuring the belt deflection. Hold a ruler behind the belt
while firmly pressing down on the belt and reading the belt deflection distance. The
belt deflection should have a nominal 1/4 in (6.5 mm) belt deflection:
a. If the belt tension is within specification, tension adjustment is not required.
b. If the belt is not within specification, continue procedure to adjust the belt ten-
sion.

4. Remove all brake resistance by turning the resistance knob fully counter clockwise.
5. Slowly hand rotate the pedals and make sure the belt is correctly seated on the gen-
erator and flywheel generator pulleys.
6. Loosen the generator 4 mm hex key mounting/adjustment bolt enough so that the
generator can be moved forward or rearward to adjust the tension. Do not remove the
mounting bolt.
7. Make belt tension adjustments in small incremental changes so that the belt is not
inadvertently over tensioned which could possibly damage the belt or pulley hard-
ware.
