Replacement Procedures
Ribbon Drive Motor
(Figure 6–5)
NOTE: The ribbon deck assembly contains two motors. Since the
replacement procedure is the same for both motors, only one is
described below.
Removal
1. Remove the ribbon deck assembly as described on page 6–8.
2. Loosen the hub screw (1) and remove the hub (2), shaft wick (12),
reservoir wick (13), and shaft seal (14) from the shaft of the motor (3).
3. Remove one screw (4) and washer (5). Separate the cover (6) from the
ribbon deck assembly (7).
4. Disconnect the motor cable connector (8) from the ribbon control PCBA
(9).
5. Remove two screws (10) and washers (11).
6. Separate the motor from the ribbon deck assembly.
Installation
1. Place the motor in the ribbon deck assembly.
2. Install two screws (10) and washers (11).
3. Connect the motor cable connector to the ribbon control PCBA.
4. Install the shaft seal, reservoir wick, shaft wick, and hub on the shaft of
the motor. Tighten screw (1).
5. Install the cover on the ribbon deck assembly. Secure with one screw (4)
and washer (5).
6. Install the ribbon deck assembly as described on page 6–8.
7. Adjust the ribbon hubs as described on page 5–4 of Chapter 5,
Alignments and Adjustments.
