Software addressing
If you are using the software address, make sure the rotary switches are both set to 0. This enables a Class 2
Master to set the address with a telegram over PROFIBUS. The addressable range is 0 to 126 (where 126 is the
default software address). The address is stored in non-volatile memory. When the module is power-cycled,
the address will be loaded from non-volatile memory.
Use a configuration tool
capable of sending “Set Slave Address” commands to change the address.
Below is an
example with ProfiCaptain:

Locking the software address
The “Set Slave Address” command also has a ‘Lock’ feature (see
). If you enable this feature, this locks
the device for any new attempts to change the software address. Unlocking is only possible as described in
paragraph 11.3.2.2

Unlocking the software address
If the Lock feature was used in setting the address, the station address can only be unlocked if the PBS-001 is
powered down and then powered up while the two rotary switches are NOT set to 0. This resets the software
address to 126.
