to a closed angle (tilted forward) of 16° (
figure 42).
To adjust the backrest inclination:
Loosen the two bolts “V” (10mm spanner)
Adjust the support to the desired inclination
Tighten the two bolts firmly
The backrest inclination affects the wheelchair
point of balance. With an
open angle, the
wheelchair will tip over more easily. When used in
this position we recommend that an appropriate
anti-tip system is fitted (see chapter 7.3 “Anti-tip
wheels”).
Always check the stability of the wheelchair in the
presence of an assistant.
The change of the backrest inclination can affect the lock of the
backrest when folded. The backrest support plate “S” (figure 44)
has two holes “F”, one of which is closet by a steel cap “T”, while
the other works as engagement hole.
If the steel cap is not in the correct position, the backrest, when
folded, either does not lock or it locks too early (the backrest
remains quite high). In either case, it is necessary to change the
position of the steel cap.
To change the position of the steel cap:
Remove the bolt “A” and its nut and washers (4mm Allen key
and 10mm spanner) and the two bolts “V” (5mm Allen key)
(figure 43) in order to remove the plate “S” (figure 44).
Remove the two bolts “B” (2mm Allen key)
Remove the steel plate “P”.
Move the steel cap “T” to the other hole “F”.
Re-mount the steel plate “P” and fix it with the two bolts “B”.
Re-mount the plate “S” on the wheelchair and fix it with the
bolt “A” and its nut and washers
Finally fix the backrest with the bolts “V” at the desired
inclination.
Repeat the same operation for both sides.
