Press MENU to display
the MAIN MENU.
Then press + or-to high-
light Audio Adjust in white.
Press MENU again to
display the AUDIO ADJUST
menu.
Press + or-to highlight
desired function. Then
press MENU to enter the
function.
Pressing the button moves the highlight down the TV
screen (one item per press).
Pressing the + button moves the highlight up the TV screen
(one item per press).
Pressing the
MENU
button when a function is highlighted
allows you to enter or adjust that function.
After a few seconds, the
AUDIO ADJUST
menu will disappear
from the screen if no button is pressed. To exit the menu
quickly, highlight
Done
and then press
MENU
(or press the
CLEAR
button on the master remote control).
The Equalizer
function lets you display an on-screen graphic
equalizer so you can remotely adjust audio bandwidths for
different environments or individual tastes.

The Headphone volume
function allows you to adjust the volume
of the sound from the headphone jack. Press the + or-button to
highlight
Headphone volume
function. Then press the
MENU
button to enter the
HEADPHONE
display. Press + or to adjust
the headphone volume level.

The Balance
function adjusts the left/right balance of sound from
the speakers. When adjusting the balance, sit in your normal
viewing seat. Then press the + or
button to highlight the
Balance
function, press the
MENU
button to enter the
BALANCE
adjustment display. press the + or-button until the sound seems
to originate from a point halfway between the speakers.
The
Mode
function allows you to select one of eight different
audio modes.
Note: You can quickly
select
one
of
the eight audio modes by
repeatedly pressing the
SURR
(surround) button on the master remote
control.

S t e r e o
allows the TV to automatically produce stereo or
monaural audio, whichever is broadcast.

S t e r e o e x p a n d
adds greater depth and dimension to stereo
broadcasts and other stereo sources such as stereo
laser disc players.

Dolby 3 stereo
provides right, left, and center channel sound
from Dolby* encoded sources. Requires external right and left
front speakers.

l
provides separate surround, center, right, and left
sound from Dolby encoded sources. Requires external right
and left front speakers and rear surround speaker(s).

l
phantom
is the
mode to select if you have no
e x t e r n a l
speakers connected or only external surround
speaker(s) connected. It uses the
decoder, but splits
the center channel between left and right. It then uses the
TV’s
internal speakers for left, right, and center sounds.

M a t r i x s u r r o u n d
allows you to simulate surround sound from a
mono broadcast. Rear surround speaker(s) are required.

Hall surround
provides surround sound from a stereo signal.

S t a d i u m s u r r o u n d
provides surround sound from a stereo
signal. Stadium surround delays the rear sound longer than
hall surround which gives you the feeling of being in a larger
area, such as a large stadium. Rear surround speaker(s) are
required.

Setup
function allows you to adjust individual features for
the audio mode you have selected.

The
Volume limiter
function lets you set the upper volume level
of your TV. This is useful if you have children and do not want
them listening to a program above a certain level. press the
MENU
button
when
Volume limiter
is highlighted to enter the
VOLUME LIMIT
adjustment display. Press + or -to adjust the
display.
Saving, Restoring, and Returning to Factory Audio Settings
The TV will remember your personalized audio setup
functions for each audio mode-even when you turn it off.
To prevent losing your personal settings because someone
changes them accidentally, you can save them using the
MEMORY MENU
.
After the settings have been saved, you can
restore them at a later date using the
MEMORY
MENU
.
The
MEMORY MENU
also lets you easily restore the audio setup
functions to their factory settings.
