Using the Recorder for the First Time
Before using your new DVD recorder, you will need to set the clock and, if you have connected a
television signal, scan the signal spectrum to disable weak channels.
To set the clock:
1. Turn the recorder on.
2. Press
SETUP
to enter the Setup menu.
3. Use and to select the Clock sub-menu
and press
ENTER
.
4. Use and to select Date and press
ENTER
.
5. Enter the current date using the keypad.
Alternatively, you can select each digit
individually by pressing and , then
adjust it by pressing and .
6. Press
ENTER
to set the date.
7. Use and to select Time and press
ENTER
.
8. Enter the current time using the keypad.
Alternatively, you can select each digit individually by pressing and , then adjust it by
pressing
and .
9. Press
ENTER
to set the time.
To scan the television signal spectrum:
1. Ensure the recorder is on and enter the Setup menu with the
SETUP
button.
2. Use and to select the Channel Scan
sub-menu and press
ENTER
.
3. Ensure the Tuner Input Source is set
correctly (see “Channel Scan” on page 39
for a full description of the choices).
Note:
If you are connecting directly to a
cable television wall outlet, con-
tact your cable company to find
out which system is in use in your
area. IRC will work with most systems.
4. Use and to select Scan Channels and press
ENTER
.
The recorder will scan the signal spectrum and display its progress as it does so.
