Trace around it so you can use a dremel
with height adjuster to route the cavity
for the plate
10. After the cavity is made take the
two 1/8” ply pieces and trace their
outline in the cavity then route down
about 1/8” so they can sit flush with the
bottom of the cavity. Epoxy the 1/8”
pieces in place. When cured, position
the joiner plate in the cavity and drill a
9/64” hole through the two wood pieces.
11. Use a #8 x ¾” screw to attach the
¼” plate. Marking the orientation of the
plate can help the installation.
Wing to Fuse Joint
1. Find the 1 ½” long, 1” square balsa
blocks and mark their center, then use a
Forstner bit to drill a 3/8” hole about 1
¼” into the block.
We recommend you use a drill press to
ensure a straight hole.
2. Position the blocks onto the wing’s
1/8” ply LE as shown below and trace
their outline, then mark the center. Note
the LE orientation.
3. Place the ¼” LE against the fuse.
Make some reference marks on the LE
and fuse to help with aligning its location
later.
