Input connections
The PYX-3X accepts a broad range of
input sources
,
including:
Compact Disc (CD) player
Cassette, Reel-to-Reel or other tape player
Radio Tuner
These can be connected via either 1/4” or RCA type jacks
to the input jacks on the rear panel of the PYX-3X.

Setting the frequency controls
Biamp Systems
In a
biamp system
, the frequency ranges are usually LOWS
(with a range of about 40Hz to 120Hz), and MIDS/HIGHS
(with a range from 120Hz to about 20KHz).
Settings for such a system would be something like this:
Output connections for a biamp system
A typical biamp system employs a 4 channel amplifier, with
one pair of channels used to handle MIDS/HIGHS, with the
second pair of channels handling the LOW frequencies. A
similar system can be built using separate amplifiers to
handle the two frequency ranges.
This kind of setup would be accomplished as follows:
Upper end, LOWS range: 120Hz
Lower end, MIDS/HIGHS range: 120Hz
Upper end, MIDS/HIGHS
range: Flat (range not affected)

Triamp Systems
In a
triamp system
, the frequency ranges are usually LOWS
(with a range of about 40Hz to 120Hz), MIDS (with a range
from 120Hz to about 5-8KHz) and HIGHS (with a range from
5Hz to about 20KHz).
The PYX-3X uses the two MIDS frequency controls together
to form a bandpass section for the MIDS range, with one
control setting the lower and one setting the upper crossover
points.
Settings for such a system would be something like this:
Upper end, LOWS range: 120Hz
Lower end, MIDS/HIGHS range: 120Hz
Upper end, MIDS range:
5KHz

Output connections for Triamp Systems
A typical triamp home system might consist of a 4-Channel
amp for reproduction of MIDS and HIGHS, and a separate
2-Channel amp for reproduction of LOWS (a similar result
can be obtained using separate 2-channel amps for each of
the LOW, MID and HIGH ranges).
