QU-AX Pipifax Hub

Users Manual and assembly instructions

Thank you for purchasing this freewheel hub. QU-AX stands for high quality unicycles since 2001.

In this manual you will find information on assembly and setup, maintenance and care. Please read these instructions carefully before using the unicycle and keep
them in a safe place. If you have any questions or problems, please contact your dealer.

This hub was created according to the current state of the art and manufacturing and under constant quality control. We incorporate the knowledge gained from this
into our development. For this reason, we reserve the right to make changes in technology and design in order to always be able to offer our customers optimum
product quality. Should there nevertheless be reason for complaint, please contact your specialist dealer.

For your safety

This hub is not a toy but a piece of sports equipment. Inexperienced handling can lead to serious injury or death!

If used by minors, an adult must supervise the use. Use is only permitted by one (1) person.

Riding a unicycle with a freewheel hub

requires an extreme amount of practice and should only be done by advanced riders

- keeping your balance forward/

backward is particularly difficult on these and is only possible with a brake built onto the unicycle. When assembling the unicycle with this hub, the installation of a
brake is absolutely necessary. Due to the high and hard restraint, we recommend a disc brake. Wear sturdy shoes when using the unicycle. Wear suitable protective
clothing (back protector, knee-, elbow- and ankle- protection) as well as a safety helmet that provides sufficient protection at the back of the head.

Due to their construction, unicycles are extremely unstable. In the beginning, there may be more falls. Wear protective equipment!

For home use only! This sports equipment is intended for private use only (no commercial or public use).

•

This vehicle may only be used for its intended purpose, i.e. as a piece of sports equipment for use by one (1) person.

•

Any other use is not permitted and may be dangerous. The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for damage caused by improper use.

•

Damaged components can endanger the safety of users and affect the service life of the vehicle. Therefore, carry out regular checks of all components for
possible damage and loose connections (screws, plug connections, etc.) at short intervals appropriate to the operation. Replace damaged/worn components
immediately and withdraw the product from use until it has been repaired. Otherwise, unforeseeable damage/dangers could occur. If necessary, use only origi-
nal QU-AX or OnlyOne spare parts! Check the inside of the hub regularly (every 10 riding hours) and clean it, check for visual damage (after every ride).

•

The max. user weight is 100 kg

•

Improper repairs and structural changes (removal of original parts, installation of non-permitted parts, etc.) can be dangerous for the user or impair the ser-
vice life of the product or the service life of the product may be impaired.

•

Due to the instability of the riding position on a unicycle, this hub is not suitable for use on public roads.

•

The hub is not suitable for jumps or drops.

•

Ensure that it is only used in a hazard-free environment.

•

Discbrake rotors can become very hot during use - risk of burns!

•

Stow or avoid shoelaces, they can get caught in the brake, crank, pedals or other unicycle parts and cause a fall and injury.

Assembly

This hub is designed to be mounted on a unicycle. Wheelbuilding is a craft that requires a lot of experience. The hub should be assembled to a rim by an experienced
wheel-builder. Sufficient spoke tension is particularly important. Due to the high stress on the spokes of a freewheel hub, we recommend spokes with diameter of
2mm over the whole length and self-locking nipples. It is essential to pay attention to the correct spoke length, the spokes should be crossed at least three times.

The flange distance is 44.5 mm from flange to flange.
The hole spacing in the radius is
Together with the ERD of the rim, a calculation of the required spoke length is possible with common spoke length calculators.

The Pipifax hub is a Q-Axle hub. It is exclusively suitable for Q-Axle cranks - the matching spacers must be used (4.8 mm for the ZeroQ-Axle, 5.8 mm for the grey Q-
Axle cranks). We recommend not to use double hole cranks for the freewheel hub.
When mounting, the crank must be firmly seated on the spacer. To do this, loosen the crank bolts. The red cap is not made for pulling the crank completely onto the
axle, but it will provide structural hold of the system and is mandatory. When the crank is firmly seated on the axle, the two screws must be loosened alternately and
successively. Tighten the two bolts alternately and successively to about 8Nm.
