System Expansion Capabilities
4.1.1.
System Expansion via SATA Interface
The baseboard comes with six 7-pin SATA data connectors. Those connectors are SATA 3.0 compatible. Users can
expand the system with up to four 2.5" SATA HDD / SSD drives via any four of them.
4.1.2.
System Expansion via M.2 Interface
The baseboard comes with an onboard M.2 interface connector with Key B Type 2280 support. The connector is
intended to be used to install an M.2 SSD drive.
4.1.3.
System Expansion via mSATA / mPCIe Interface
The baseboard comes with an onboard full-sized mSATA / mPCIe interface connector. The connector can be switched
to mSATA or mPCIe setting via the jumper JP1. Users can expand the RAK-120S with mSATA SSD drive, mPCIe WLAN
card or mPCIe WWAN modem card.
If a customer requires WWAN functionality, it must be so stipulated when ordering, as
an optional SIM card slot must be installed at the factory.
4.1.4.
System Expansion via PCIe x16 Add-on Card Slot
The system comes with one PCIe x16 add-on card slot accessible on the rear I/O panel. The slot supports only x8
signal. Users can insert network card, SATA controller card, graphics card or other functional expansion module for
advanced applications.
