Installation Instructions

This sec tion cover s External Connectors  and Jumper Settings . Refer to the mainboard
layout chart for locations of all  jumpers, external connectors, slots and I/O ports.  Further-
more, this section lists all necessary connector pin assignments for your referenc e. The
particular state of the jumpers, connec tors and ports are illustrated in the follow ing fig-
ures. Before setting the jumpers or inserting these connectors, please pay attention to the
directions.

Be sure to unplug the AC pow er supply before adding or rem oving expansion

cards or other system  peripherals, otherw ise your m ainboard and expansion

cards m ight be seriously damaged.

External Connectors

PS/2 Keyboard Connector, PS/2 Mouse Connector

PS/2 keyboard connector is for the usage of  PS/2 keyboard. If using a standard AT size
keyboard, an adapter should be used to fit this connector. PS/2 mouse connector is for the
usage of PS/2 mouse.

USB1, USB2

Tw o USB ports are available for connecting USB devices.

Parallel Port Connector, Monitor Output Connector and Serial Port
Connector (Printer, VGA Monitor, UART1, UART2)

The parallel port connector can be connected to a parallel device s uch as a printer, w hile
the serial port c onnector can be connected to a ser ial port device such as a serial port
mouse. The monitor output c onnector is for output to a VGA -compatible device. You can
enable/disable them and choose the IRQ or I/O address in “Integr ated Peripherals”  from
AWARD  BIOS  SETUP.
