3.5e Create programming with a standard solar GPS
Quantum 4000 Enhanced
Solar without rechargeable battery
A GPS with solar power and no rechargeable battery. The only two things that need to be
programmed are the GPS additional time and the GPS timeout. To program your solar
powered GPS:
1.
Navigate to the settings page of Collar SW.
2.
Set the GPS additional time to your desired additional time.
3.
Set the GPS timeout to your desired GPS timeout.
4.
Press the Write All button on the top of the page.
Important notes:
•
It is strongly recommend that you set the GPS additional time to 5 seconds and
the GPS timeout to 120 seconds. These settings grant the highest percentage of
successful fixes while allowing a large number of fix attempts.
•
If you set the GPS additional time higher, it will result in fewer attempted fixes
but more accurate locations.
•
This style of GPS will not acquire any positions during the night.
•
Approximately 7,500 to 9,500 lines of data can be downloaded at one time.
3.5f Create programming with a rechargeable solar GPS
Quantum 4000 Enhanced
Solar with rechargeable battery
GPS units with solar-charged batteries function somewhat differently than our standard
solar-powered GPS units. A battery allows the devices to take fixes at night or when the
unit is not in direct sunlight. After the unit charges to 3.2 V, the unit will start taking fixes
until the voltage drops below 3.0 V.
A solar GPS unit is programmed to take fixes at certain fixed intervals. These intervals
can be set for two different times of day, DAY and NIGHT, and two different battery
states, FULL and MEDIUM. For example, the unit can be programmed to take more fixes
during the day and fewer at night, or to take more fixes when the battery is in the FULL
battery state with over 3.8 V.
