6.6d How the Smart GPS Skip Function works
This is a feature that the user may choose to enable but is not required. This feature
comes into affect when the GPS collar is skipping GPS position attempts due to Smart
GPS being active and the GPS Minimum Count not being met. The Smart GPS Skip
function allows the user to program how many times the GPS unit will skip attempting a
GPS position before turning on and forcing itself to take a GPS fix. The number of times
a GPS unit is programmed to skip before being forced to attempt a fix is completely user-
programmable between 1 and 99. This is a safety net so that if the animal is not moving
as much as expected, you will still get data.
6.6e Programming your Smart GPS Skip Function
First, be sure that all of your Smart GPS settings have already been applied using the
Motion software. Once that is complete, plug your GPS unit in and open Collar SW.
Navigate to the Settings page and find the Manual Command Entry box near the bottom
left corner of the screen. This is where you will enter in a command telling Smart GPS
how many GPS positions you would like it to skip before being forced to attempt a GPS
location. To do this, follow the model and examples below:
