Safety notes for lithium batteries
The mobile data collector Q log 5.5 is fitted with a rechargeable lithium battery Lithium
batteries are safe provided they are handled properly under the parameters specified
by the manufacturer.
PROPER HANDLING
•
Observe the specified ambient conditions when transporting, storing and using the device.
•
Avoid mechanical damage such as dropping or crushing.
•
Mechanical damage such as opening, drilling through or dismantling the batteries is also
prohibited.
•
Avoid an electrical short-circuit caused by e.g. foreign matter or water.
•
Avoid excessive thermal load e.g. from permanent sunlight or fire.
CHARGING rechargeable lithium batteries
•
Only use the USB cable provided to charge the Li-Ion battery (see operating manual).
•
Do not use any other Li-Ion battery.
TRANSPORT
•
The user can transport the Li-Ion batteries contained by road without any further limitations.
•
Special requirements on packaging and marking must be observed for dispatch e.g. air
freight or forwarding agent. Note the respectively applicable national regulations. (lithium
batteries are subject to the requirements of hazardous goods laws)
DANGER caused by improper handling
•
Incorrect treatment or circumstances which lead to improper operation can lead to leaks
and battery content materials and decomposition products escaping. In this context, major
reactions can take place which present a risk to both health and the environment (develop-
ment of gas and fire).
•
Technical defects or improper handling can lead to an uncontrolled and accelerated release
of the chemically stored energy. This is usually released in the form of thermal energy,
which can lead to a fire.
EMERGENCY INSTRUCTIONS
•
In the event of the content materials of the lithium battery coming into contact with the
eyes or skin, rinse thoroughly with water for at lest 15 minutes. A doctor must always be
contacted.
•
A doctor must always be contacted if gases or smoke are inhaled.
•
Burns must be treated accordingly and a doctor must be contacted.
•
In the case of intensive smoke development or gas release, leave the room immediately.
Ensure there is sufficient ventilation without putting yourself in danger if possible, in other
words without inhaling the gas or smoke.
•
If swallowed, drink plenty of water and rinse your mouth out. Seek medical advice immedia-
tely.
