Considerations
The 1269 Mainframe is designed to operate on a bench or in
an instrument rack. Refer to
Figures 1-6
and
1-7
for vent
locations for the 1269 when used in bench top and rack mount
applications, respectively. Determine how you will use your
1269 (bench or rack mount) and follow the appropriate
installation instructions.
Select VXIbus Slot
0 Controller
Location
The 1269 is factory configured for operation with the
VXIbus
Slot 0 controller
located in the front
C0 slot
. The 1269 may
be re-configured to allow operation with the
VXIbus Slot 0
controller
located in the rear
B0 slot
, freeing one full C-sized
instrument slot. Refer to
Figure 2-1
and the description below
to configure the mainframe to allow operation with the
VXIbus
Slot 0 controller
located in the rear
B0 slot
.
1.
To remove the Personality Module (P/N 415113) grasp the
Module using the “2 finger” cutout and pull gently and
evenly to remove it from the J57 card edge connector
located on the backplane and the retaining post located in
the side panel.
2. Rotate the Personality Module 180
E
so that the silkscreen
reads:

SLOT 0 IN REAR
B-SIZED SLOT
at the top.
3. Install the Personality Module into the J57 card edge
connector by aligning the Personality Module with the
connector and the retaining post groove and gently push
towards the rear. Ensure that the retaining post groove
aligns and engages with the module card. Seat firmly.
Installing VXI
Modules
Install C-size modules directly into the
front
C-size slots (6) of
the mainframe by first placing the module’s card edges into the
front module guides (top and bottom). Slide the module to the
rear of the mainframe until the module connectors mate solidly
with the backplane connectors. Secure the module’s front
panel to the mainframe using the module’s front panel
mounting screws.
Install B-size modules directly into the
rear
B-size slots (3) of
the mainframe by first placing the module’s card edges into the
