Selecting The
Counter Function
Card
Before any use can be made of the 2461 TYPE C function card
it is necessary to select the card that the operator wishes to
address. This is done by the SCPI command:
INST:SEL COUNter1
If the counter is located in the top of the 2461 module.
To access another counter in the lower half of the module the
command should be
INST:SEL COUNter2
If the operator is uncertain what is in the 2461 then he can
interrogate the unit by sending:
INST:CAT?
The reply may consist of up 3 fields separated by the comma
character. The first field indicates what is in the upper position,
the second field, if present, indicates what is in the lower
position and the third field indicates what is mounted internally
to the 2461. Note that if the second field is present but a null
value then the lower position is unoccupied.
Note that the default setting is function card 1.
Preparation For
Measurement
In general the user will prepare the 2461 TYPE C for
measurement and then command the 2461 TYPE C to take that
measurement.
The user should prepare for measurement first by using the
SENSE subsystem to select the primary measurement function,
measurement resolution, averaging state, etc.
The operator should now prepare the input conditioning by
using the INPUT subsystem to select such parameters as
coupling, impedance, hysteresis level, filtering, trigger slopes
and level (or if trigger level should be determined automatically).
The operator should now prepare the arming source using the
ARM subsystem.
Examples:
To measure the frequency on Input 1 of a 150MHz signal to 1Hz
resolution using Auto trigger, and the 50
Ω
input using a
reference plugged into the front panel, the following commands
