Some tips before hitting the road
2.1.
Tyres
Tyre pressure (specified on the side of the trailer body).
Wheel nut tightness should be checked after the first 100km, then periodically: Every 12 months or
10,000km, and 100km after a tyre change.
Torquing of wheel nuts (sheet metal rims)
10mm axle
44 N/m

2.2.
Lights
Check the indicator and brake lights are working.
2.3.
Loading
Options such as the rack, towbar storage box, kitchen, sun canopy, etc. increase the
caravan’s weight. You must never exceed the total laden weight authorised on the trailer tent’s
VIN plate.
The load must be evenly distributed across the trailer. If it is back-heavy, the trailer tent may make
your car sway. If it is front-heavy, it will eventually wear out your car’s shock absorbers. A well-
loaded trailer tent should not noticeably affect your car’s handling. To load it correctly, spread the
load so that the hitch exerts a minimum of 20kg pressure. We recommend 30kg to 50kg of pressure
on the coupler.
2.4.
Inertia brake (for models with one)
Use the handbrake to check the inertia brake is correctly set up. Braking must occur during the first
three or four notches of the lever. If this does not happen, release the lever and adjust the brake
control shaft length. To do this, loosen the immobilisation nut and screw the shaft to retension the
brake (see Appendix 1).
