Setting up and using your trailer tent
4.1.
Set up
RACLET
recommends erecting your trailer tent at least once before your first camping trip in order
to make the necessary adjustments and be comfortable with the process.
Select a site sheltered from the wind, where water will not accumulate on the ground under the tent.
Remove any stones, sticks, etc. from the site. Before reversing, check the site is clear behind and
under the trailer. Lastly, check the jockey wheel and stabilisers are down and locked so the trailer
tent is stable and horizontal.
TIP:
Make sure you always have hard wood boards to hand (about 130 x 130mm and 15mm thick) to
sit the stabilisers on when the ground is soft or sandy. These boards will also be handy for sitting the
jack on when you get a flat tyre and for levelling the trailer’s wheels on uneven ground.

4.2.
Use
When staying in your trailer tent, we recommend you air it out often.
When the awning is closed, the night-time freshness causes condensation and forms droplets. This
dampness is normal and is not an issue.
In wind, you should retension the tension straps and close any detachable panels.
The tent must be attached to the ground with all the pegs to ensure the canvas is taut and avoid it
shrinking.
Your tent’s cotton is a natural fabric. When it is first rained on, there may be some leaks as the
canvas and stitching have not yet stabilised. Stabilisation of the canvas and final waterproofing is
achieved after use in the rain followed by thorough drying.
Ensure that the tent is completely dry before folding it.
IMPORTANT: In the rain, you should check the roof tension as slack canvas can lead to pockets of
water forming and causing leaks, and can potentially damage your canvas. This damage is not
covered by the warranty. The most common cause of water pocket formation is setting up on uneven
ground or incorrectly adjusting the poles.
