Description of the RACO – Motor

RACO offers three-phase motors, in 2- or 4-pole design with a power from 0,1kW up to 0,7kW. Every
RACO  motor  is  equipped  with  thermal  contact  (optional  with  thermistor)  and  can  be  used  limited  in
combination with a frequency inverter.

Motor sizes and design

RACO provide its motors with following performance datas in one motor size according RACO works
standard specification.

Performance characteristics

RACO motor

Power supply:

3 x 400V/AC...460V/AC 50 Hz / 60 Hz

Special voltages of 3x42V/AC up to 3x690V/AC are possible

Rated power:

0,10 kW – 0,70 kW

Rated voltage range A:

50 Hz, 2-4 pole (3000/1500 1/min)

Protection class:

IP 54  (IP 65 optional) according DIN EN 60034-5

ISO class (heat class):

Ambient temperature:

-20°C to +40°C max. +70 °C in S3 cycle mode

Insulation class (heat class)
The insulation systems of machinery must be allocated to a heat class according to IEC 85. The mo-
tors will be offered in insulation class F.

In the tropical protection version, the copper winding is impregnated with a special coating.

Converter operation

In converter operation, it should be noted that as a result of the upper wave content of the voltage, the
frequency converter leads to increased losses in the motor.

Depending on the speed setting range, counter-torque progression, load play and converter type, the
possible performance reduction and choice of cooling method must be taken into account. RACO mo-
tors  should  basically  be  operated  as  a  maximum  from  500  V  power  supply  systems,  taking  into  ac-
count the voltage load on the insulation system by the converter.

The operating method of the motors in converter operation must be adapted to the non-ventilated de-
sign, i.e. higher load torques at low speeds can in the case of long running times lead to impermissible
heating  and  actuation  of  the  thermo-switch.  The  use  of  an  optionally  available  thermistor  is  recom-
mended. The corresponding type of operation should be taken into account in the form of higher de-
signed performance or a ventilated version.

Notice!

The RACO Electric Actuator may be mounted and connected only when
the  information  regarding  voltage  and  frequency  on  the  type  plate
matches the mains supply and the RACO Electric Actuator is intact.

DANGER!

Electrical installation only by qualified staff!

Installation and assembling of electrical equipment has to be done by a
qualified  electrician  according  to  local  regulations.  The  connection  has
to be done according to the wiring diagram and the type plate.
