Monitoring Network

Systems
Some of the systems that ar
e pr
epr
ogrammed in
your scanner ar
e networked, multi-site Motor
ola
systems, such as Smartzone, OmniLink, and
networked P25 systems. These systems ar
e
designed to cover very lar
ge ar
eas by using
multiple networked transmitter sites, each with its
own set of fr
equencies.
Your Advanced Digital Scanner includes a Multi-
site featur
e that can enhance the operation of
the scanner when monitoring Multi-site systems.
Multi-site can be enabled by editing the trunking
system (TSYS) parameters for the system. Multi-
site can be set to Of
f, Stat (Stationary), or Roam.
By default, Multi-site is set to Of
f.
To
activate Multi-site mode on a pr
epr
ogrammed
Motor
ola or P25 networked system:
1.
Pr
ess
PGM (PROG),
then navigate to a
talkgr
oup on the networked multi-site system
using the
STWX
keys.
2.
Pr
ess the
EDIT
softkey
, then pr
ess the
CURR
softkey
.
3.
Scr
oll down to the TSYS item and pr
ess the
SEL
key to edit the TSYS parameters.
4.
Scr
oll to Multi-site. Use the
WX
keys to
select
Off, Stat,
or
Roam
. When set to
Off
,
the scanner will find the first usable contr
ol
channel in the contr
ol channel list and use
it until it is no longer usable. When set to
Stat
, the scanner will track the system using
any contr
ol channel in the list that is usable.
When set to
Roam
, the scanner will attempt
Using the Preprog
rammed Data
to locate and use the best possible contr
ol
channel and ignor
e others, until the contr
ol
channel is no longer usable, then it will locate
a new “best contr
ol channel” to use. Roam
decisions ar
e made using the Thr
eshold
Hi and Thr
eshold Lo settings. For mor
e
information on Multi-site, please see
“Multi-
Site Mode On Network
ed Systems”
in your User’
s
Guide.
5.
Pr
ess the
SAVE
softkey to save your changes
to the TSYS parameters, then pr
ess the
SAVE
softkey again to use the scanner
.
6.
You should experiment with dif
fer
ent Multi-
site modes and thr
eshold settings to find a
combination that works best for your location.
Keep in mind that the thr
eshold settings
ar
e only available when Multi-site
Roam
is
selected.
7.
Multi-site functionality is not available in
EDACS or L
TR trunking.

EDACS trunking is quite dif
