TROUBLESHOOTING
If your scanner is not working as it should, these suggestions might help you elimi-
nate the problem. If the scanner still does not operate properly, take it to your local
RadioShack store for assistance.

Scanner is on but will not
scan.
SQUELCH
is not correctly
adjusted.

Only one channel or no
channels are stored.
Store frequencies into
more than one channel.
Scanner is totally inoper-

No power.
Make sure the scanner is
plugged into a working
AC or DC outlet.
The AC or DC adapter is
not connected.
Be sure the adapter’s
barrel plug is fully
inserted into the
DC 12V
jack.
The scanner must be
reset.
Reset the scanner (see
“Resetting the Scanner”
on Page 49).
Poor or no reception
An antenna is not con-
nected or connected
incorrectly.
Make sure an antenna is
connected to the scan-
ner.
Error
appears.
Programming error.
Reprogram the fre-
quency correctly, includ-
ing the decimal point.
In the scan mode, the
scanner locks on fre-
quencies that have an
unclear transmission.
Programmed frequen-
cies are the same as
“birdie” frequencies.
Avoid programming fre-
quencies listed under
“Birdie Frequencies” on
Page 38 or only listen to
them manually.
Scanner will not track a
trunked system.
The transmission might
not use a system that
can be tracked by your
scanner.
Scan another transmis-
sion.
