8.4 Remote frequency change
The PDR 121 provides a function to change the radio network frequency/frequencies remotely,
without having to visit all radio sites. The function is executed from the designated master radio, via
the configuration menus.
The frequency change is executed in a controlled sequence as described below. The frequency
change should always be performed from the master site since the routing information in the
network list is used.
See the example printout below.
1. The user is asked to enter new Rx and Tx frequencies. If separate Rx and Tx frequencies
(split uplink) are to be used, the new master Rx and Tx shall be entered, see 12.8.12.1.
2. The radio then transmits the new frequency information to all units on the network, one by
one, and asks them to perform a frequency lock test on the new frequency. The result from
each unit is displayed on the screen. (The remote radios have not yet changed to the new
frequencies).
3. The user can then choose to abort or continue.
4. If the frequency change is continued, the remote radio units are asked to change to the
new frequency and an acknowledgement is requested.
Note!
The remote units will not
switch to the new frequencies until after 20 seconds. This delay is so the master radio can
execute re-transmissions to units not responding to the frequency change request.
The frequency change is executed by starting with the most distant units on the network
i.e. the ones using repeaters. Scanning the local network list does this.
5. A communication test is performed to all remote units on the network and the results are
displayed.
