12.5.3.1 Multiple RTU’s
Several RTU’s can be connected to one PDR radio via a RS232/RS485 interface. This is achieved
by configuring the RTU addresses to the same radio id in the Network RTU list.
12.5.3.2 Peer To Peer
If a remote RTU (1) shall communicate to another remote RTU (2), the address of RTU (2), and the
radio id’s, shall be configured in the Network RTU list of RTU (1).
12.5.4 Repeat Alternative Systems
This feature allows a radio to repeat messages in a parallel PDR network. Four parallel system ID’s
can be configured. If the radio receives a message from a parallel system and its system id is
listed, it will repeat the message. If not listed, the message will be neglected.
12.5.5 View Network
View Network displays all configured RTU’s and the radio paths.
12.5.6 Clear Network
Clear Network deletes all routing configuration in the Network menu. If Clear Network is selected, a
confirmation is required before the network information will be cleared.
12.6 Serial
The serial menu contains configuration parameters for the serial (RS-232) interface.
12.6.1 Protocol
This feature is for the selection of the serial interface (RTU/SCADA) protocol. Available protocols
are IEC870, RP570, DNP3 or COMLI.
12.6.2 Bitrate
This feature is for the selection of the serial interface communication speed: 600, 1200, 2400,
4800, 9600 or 19200 bps.
12.6.3 Parity
This feature is for the selection of the serial interface parity; None, Even or Odd.
12.6.4 Inter Character Timeout
This feature is for the selection of the maximal space, in time (ms), between characters in a serial
telegram to be accepted by the PDR 121. Entering ‘00’ inhibits the function and the PDR 121
accepts an infinite amount of time between characters in an incoming telegram. Note: Entering
“00” is not recommended for most communication applications.
If there is a space exceeding the configured Inter Character Timeout, the PDR will discard the
message. The connected RTU has then to re-transmit a complete message.
