trunk radio
Radio communication system that uses a trunking
tower. Information from the central computer is sent
via radio to the trunking tower, then to the CCU.
Trunk radio allows greater communication distances
than point-to-point radio.
warning
A message displayed in the Event Log dialog box
when communication with a site or weather source
has failed or been cancelled.
water budget
A percentage setting that adjusts water application
times without the need to reprogram each station or
irrigation
schedule.
water window
A period of time during which irrigation is permitted.
weather source
A source of weather data. Weather data comes in two
types of concern to irrigation: evapotranspiration
(ET) and rainfall. Taken together with the soil type of
the landscape, a reasonably accurate figure of the
amount of water to apply can be calculated. Weather
sources include weather stations, CCU based sources
such as ET gauges and site rain counters, CIMIS, and
historical ET data.
weather station
A hardware item that collects weather data from
sensors and transmits the data to the central
computer.
window
A box or overlay that appears on top of a previous
screen layer to display a menu, additional
information, a place to enter information, etc.
wizard
An automatic software feature that interactively
guides the user through a particular task.
