Introduction
Rainfresh Drinking Water System 2 (UCS2) is a high performance residential
undersink water filter system that provides clean, safe and better tasting water for
your family. It can be used on any municipal or untreated drinking water supply such
as well, lake or cistern water. The system is designed for installation under the sink
with a separate dedicated faucet (included).
UCS2 uses a unique 3-stage filtering process (Fig 1). Water first passes through a
high grade activated carbon filter cartridge (CF2) which reduces chlorine, taste and
odour and fine sediment. It also reduces chemical contaminants such as pesticides
(lindane). Next the water passes through a self-disinfecting, silver impregnated
ceramic cartridge (1M) which traps and kills >99.99999% harmful bacteria (such as E.
coli and other coliform bacteria), traps >99.95% cysts & protozoa (cryptosporidium
& Giardia) and filters particulates as small as 0.3 micron (absolute).
The third stage is a solid block of high grade activated carbon in the core of the
ceramic cartridge (1M) which acts as a final "polishing" filter for chlorine and
unpleasant taste/odour. This system does not remove essential minerals from the
water.

Safety instructions
o
This filter system is designed for residential indoor use only.
o
Protect filter from direct sunlight.
o
If water pressure
will at any time exceed the 100 psi maximum, a pressure
regulator and water hammer arrestor must be installed before the filter to
prevent
potentially damaging shocks caused by high pressure.
Recommended regulator setting is 75 psi / 5.1
bar/ 517 kPa or less.
o
Note:
Do not install in multi-storey buildings over 4 storeys.
o
Do not subject to freezing temperatures with water inside the unit. If your unit will not be used in winter, or will be
subject to freezing temperatures, drain unit completely (see “Maintenance” section for details).
o
This system is intended for use with cold water only.
Do not install on hot water

o
Use only Rainfresh replacement cartridges. Only Rainfresh filter cartridges will function with this system
.
o
Do not lubricate head O-rings with petroleum based lubricants
. Only food-grade silicone (Dow 111
compound) should be sparingly used.
o
Do not
clean housing with organic solvents such as those found in sprays for cleaning products or insecticides as
these may cause cracking or crazing and lead to failure and leakage.
o
Installation of this unit may involve some water spillage. Keep paper towels or an absorbent cloth handy.
o
Do not operate the system without the filter cartridges. No filtration will occur if filter cartridges are removed.
