*Note:
Cartridge life is directly dependant on water conditions and volume of water filtered. Excessive sediment may cause more frequent
replacement. Contaminants reduced by these filters/cartridges are not necessarily in your water.
** Caution:
It is highly recommended to replace sumps at least once every 5 years to prevent costly repairs or possible water damage.
Record date of installation of new sump at the bottom.
Sanitizing Your System
It is recommended to sanitize your system for general hygiene at least once a year when the pre-filters and the post filter
are to be changed. Note: This procedure involves some water spillage. Keep an absorbent towel handy to clean up. Use
sanitary rubber gloves for this procedure and read “warning” information on bleach container before using.
1.
Shut off the water to the unit by closing the supply valve and open the faucet to vent the pressure off
2.
Remove all 3 cartridges from their respective sumps & set aside in your refrigerator (DO NOT FREEZE).
3.
Add ¼ cup of fresh unscented bleach to the first sump reattach all sumps to the unit.
4.
Open the supply valve and run some water through the system until you smell the bleach coming out of the
faucet. Turn off faucet immediately and let bleach stay in the system. Turn OFF the supply valve.
5.
After 4-6 hours, open the faucet to vent off the pressure.
6.
Remove the sumps and dump the bleach and water.
7.
Take out the cartridges from the refrigerator and reattach them to the system.
8.
Now flush water for a few minutes.
(G) TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM
SOLUTION
Sump is difficult to
remove
1)
Unit may still be under pressure. Close saddle valve and open the faucet to release
pressure
2)
Head seal may be stuck. To break the seal, push up on the sump before turning to
unlock. Clean and lubricate or replace the seal
Leak at head seal
1)
Seal may be dry or cracked due to age. If over 1 year old, replace.
2)
Seal or seal seat may have debris. Wipe the seal and seat with a paper towel. Thinly
lubricate using food grade silicone (Dow 111) or any other non-petroleum lubricant and
re-install. If this doesn’t work, replace head seal
Leak at vent button
Vent O-ring is not seating properly. Press vent button several times to re-seat properly. If it
continues to leak, replace assembly (2505).

Ceramic cartridge is
cracked or broken
Replace cartridge immediately. Broken or cracked cartridges are not under warranty
Bad water test
If the water from the UCS3 system tests positive for bacteria:
-
Inspect ceramic cartridge for cracks or breakage. Replace if necessary.
-
Sanitize the system. See section E
