R&S
ZNB40 reflector module with ESD limiters
Option R&S
ZNB40-B73/-U73
With the new reflectometer board (order no. 1317.8015.03), the reflectometers of a
R&S
ZNB40 are more robust against ESD events.
If ordered with option R&S
ZNB40-B73, a new R&S
ZNB40 is equipped with the new
reflector module. An upgrade option R&S
ZNB40-U73 is also available, however the
R&S
ZNB40 has to be returned to Rohde&Schwarz service for installation.
●
Unlike the standard R&S
ZNB40 reflectometer board, the new one does not come
.
●
Option and upgrade require a firmware version 3.40 or higher.

DC inputs
Option R&S
ZNB/ZNBT-B81
This hardware option provides four rear panel connectors labeled DC INPUT 1 ... 4
which can be used for DC measurements in different voltage ranges. The DC inputs
are also needed for the measurement of the Power Added Efficiency (PAE).
4.7.25.1
Power added efficiency
The Power Added Efficiency (PAE) is the ratio of the added RF power generated by an
active two-port device (e.g. an amplifier) to the supplied DC power P
DC
. The added RF
power can be expressed as the difference between the power of the outgoing wave b
m
at the output of the DUT and the power of the incident wave a
n
at the input of the DUT;
hence:

Positive PAE values indicate a gain in the RF power, negative values an attenuation.
The PAE is always smaller than 1.
The PAE measurement is based on the standard test setup for forward S-parameter
measurements on a 2-port DUT. An additional measurement to determine the supplied
power P
DC
is required.
