Resistor is made of ceramic material.
Resistor may break if dropped, mishandled,
or exposed to solvent(s).

The shaft resistor helps shape spray
patterns and control hole size in pattern.
Good control of all components in this cir-
cuit is essential.

If the nut will not thread fully, the shaft is
not engaged. Unscrew and repeat Step 13.

12.
Install the o-ring (item 8) on the drive
shaft (item 9).
13.
Install the resistor (item 10) (black ink
end first) and spring (item 11) into the
rear of the drive shaft (item 9). Spring
must be long enough to contact end of
resistor and motor shaft.
14.
Holding the gun assembly with the front
of the barrel angled slightly downward,
slide the drive shaft (item 9) into the front
of the barrel until it bottoms. Rotate the
drive shaft by hand until you feel the slot
engage the motor shaft pin (item 24).
Tighten nut (item 3) to secure the drive
shaft to the gun assembly.

1.
Unscrew the nut (item 3) and remove
the drive shaft (item 9) with seal assem-
bly components from the barrel (item
14).
2.
Carefully remove the spring (item 11)
from the rear of the drive shaft (item 9).
3.
Tilt the shaft downward and allow resis-
tor (item 10) to fall out.
4.
Insert the resistor (item 10) into the drive
shaft (item 9) making sure that the black
end of the resistor is toward the front of
the barrel.
5.
Install spring (item 11) into back of drive
shaft (item 9).
6.

Misuse of the LSCH0009 dielectric grease
inside the No. 2 Handgun can cause premature
failure of the electric motor. Dielectric grease
should only be used as a filler (displacement of
air) to suppress high voltage corona. Dielectric
grease should only be applied to the following
parts:
Exposed high voltage cable of the gun end of
the 19370-xx high voltage cable end
Inside the white 6204-00 high voltage resistor
housing
On the inside and outside of the 2842-01 (535
megohms) high voltage resistor
