Chapter 8: Inline Monitors
191
Installation Guidelines
Keep in mind that electricity is transmitted only between the inlet and outlet
labeled with the same number. That is, electricity flows from the inlet
labeled "CH1" to the outlet labeled "CH1," from the inlet labeled "CH2" to
the outlet labeled "CH2," and so on.
Follow these guidelines when installing power cords on the inline monitor:
Whenever a power cord is installed on an inlet, a power cord must be
also installed on an identically-numbered outlet.
Ensure that wires connected to identically-numbered terminals on
both of inlets and outlets are of THE SAME COLOR. That is:
L1 wire color of an inlet must be the same as that of the
identically-numbered outlet.
For example, if you connect a BLACK wire to the L1 terminal of the
inlet labeled CH1, you must also connect a BLACK wire to the L1
terminal of the outlet labeled CH1.
Similarly, L2 wire color of an inlet must be the same as that of the
identically-numbered outlet.
Apply the same color guideline to the remaining wire terminals
(such as L3 and/or N) if your inline monitor is a three-phase PDU.
Installing Power Cords
Cord installation ways differ according to the type of the inline monitor.
For a power-socket type, you simply plug appropriate power cords into
electric receptacles or sockets on the inline monitor.
For a cable-gland type, the cord installation involves wire connection
to terminals. See the section
Cord Installation for a Cable-Gland
Type
(on page 192) for details.
