SCS 4000/5000 Series™ Installation & Operation Manual
Rate Cal
The following information must be known in order to determine which spray nozzles to use with the sprayer.
•
Nominal Application Pressure_________ PSI [kpa]
•
Target Application Rate_________ GPA [L/ha]
•
Target Speed_________ MPH [km/h]
•
Nozzle Spacing_________ inches [cm]
From this information, calculate the volume per minute per nozzle as follows:
where NVPM = Nozzle Volume per Minute (Gallons/Acre or [L/ha]), Rate = Target Application Rate, Speed =
Target Speed of Application and NS = Nozzle Spacing.
For Example:
Application Pressure = 30 PSI, Target Application Rate = 20 GPA, Target Speed = 5.2 MPH and Nozzle
Spacing = 20 inches
Using the calculated Nozzle Volume per Minute of 0.35 at an Application Pressure of 30, select a tip that is
capable of these application specifications. Contact a local sprayer supply dealer for available nozzles or
spray tips.
Verifying Flow Rate Limits
The target rate for a field application also must be within the specified range of the flow meter measuring flow
rate for the control channel.
SCS Multi-Tier Features
For systems with multiple plumbing tiers (2 or 3 tier systems), additional features can be accessed by holding
down the BOOM CAL key for 5 seconds. Use the arrow keys to toggle between the following features:
Tier 1 High Volume per Minute
Sets the maximum allowed volume per minute before the second tier is enabled.
•
On a two tier system, both tiers will be enabled once this level is reached.
•
On a three tier system, the first tier will shut off and second tier will turn on once this level is reached.
