Seat and Seat Belt Inspection
Adjust the seat at the beginning of each work period. Also
adjust the seat when you are changing operators.
Inspect the seat belt mounting hardware. Replace any
hardware that is damaged or worn. Keep the mounting
bolts tight.
Fasten the seat belt before you start the engine.
While in Operation
• Know how to shut the machine off in an emergency.
• Warm up the engine and the hydraulic oil before operating
the machine.
• Only operate the machine while you are in the seat. The
seat belt must be fastened and the operator restraint bar
must be pulled down while you operate the machine.
Only operate the controls while the engine is running.
• While you operate the machine slowly in an open
area, check for proper operation of all controls and all
protective devices.
• Before you move the machine, you must be satisfied
that no one will be endangered.
• Do not allow riders on the machine.
• Any needed repairs that will affect the safe and efficient
operation of the machine should be carried out as soon
as possible.
• Carry attachments as closely as possible to ground level.
Do not go close to the edge of a cliff, an excavation or
an overhang.
• If the machine begins to sideslip downward on a grade,
immediately remove the load and turn the machine
downhill.
• Avoid any conditions that can lead to tipping the machine.
The machine can tip when you work on hills, banks or
slopes. Also, the machine can tip when you cross ditches,
ridges or other unexpected obstructions.
• Avoid operating the machine across the slope. When
possible, operate the machine up the slope and down
the slope.
• Maintain control of the machine. Do not overload the
machine beyond the machine capacity.
• Be sure that the hitches and the towing devices are
adequate.
• Only connect the trailer equipment to a draw bar or a hitch.
• Never straddle a wire rope cable. Never allow other
personnel to straddle a wire rope cable.
• Before you maneuver the machine, make sure that no
personnel are between the machine and the trailing
equipment. Block up the hitch of the trailing equipment in
order to align the hitch with the draw bar. Maneuver the
machine. Connect the machine to the trailing equipment.
• Know the maximum dimensions of your machine.
• Always keep the Rollover Protective Structure (ROPS)
installed during machine operation.
• Never exceed the maximum ROPS rating.
• Always keep body parts (arms, legs, etc.) inside the
cab of the crawler.
• When using an attachment that may throw objects or
debris, such as a forestry mower, do not roll the mower
so that the cutting teeth are exposed and facing the
operator. Always close the lexan door while operating.
Track Transmission
This machine has two independent hydrostatic transmissions
for transferring engine power to the tracks. This is not
a conventional transmission. There are not any gears or
drivelines. There is not a steering clutch or steering brake.
The hydrostatic transmission is basically made up of the
following components:
• Two pumps, one for each track, controlled by a joystick
• Two motors, one for each track
• High pressure lines to pass the oil
This machine is designed to move forward and backward, and
to turn. The pumps are designed to send varying amounts
of oil to the motors to regulate the speed of the tracks. The
pumps are also designed to reverse the flow of the oil to the
motors to regulate the direction of the track movement. One
track can run forward and the other backward to produce a
counter-rotation of the machine.
The machine is slowed when the flow of oil from the pumps
to the motors is reduced. This produces a hydrostatic
braking effect.
The machine is stopped when the flow of oil from the pumps
to the motors is stopped.
The parking brakes are engaged when the operator is absent,
or when the seat belt is not latched, or when the operator
restraint bar is raised. The parking brakes also engage when
the machine is turned off.
The parking brakes disengage when the operator is seated
in the seat, the seat belt is latched, the on.
Operation
Operation
WHEN THE TRACK DRIVES ARE DISENGAGED,
THE MACHINE HAS NO PARKING BRAKES. THE
MACHINE CAN ROLL AND CAUSE PERSONAL
INJURY OR DEATH.
