Scene Menu (Program AE)
You can set the camcorder to the shooting mode
that will bring the best results for a specific type of
shooting situation. Just select one of the four scene
settings shown below. The camcorder will
automatically set the exposure, white balance, and
shutter speed to produce the optimum picture
quality for the selected situation.

To record a fast-moving subject.
When the background is too
bright.
When you want to faithfully record
the red of the setting sun, and the
surrounding twilight.
When the illumination is from a
spotlight or candles.
Camcorder Adjustment
The shutter speed is set to 1/500 sec. for a clear,
unblurred picture of fast-moving objects. The
white balance is set for outdoor sunlight.
The aperture is adjusted to maintain the
appropriate brightness. The white balance is set
for outdoor sunlight.
The white balance is fixed to optimize the red of
the sunset. Light sensitivity and contrast are
reduced to reproduce the surrounding twilight.
Brightness is adjusted to reduce white flaring
(overexposure) from faces when the spotlight or
candles are too bright.

To Go Back to Auto Mode
Select “SCENE MENU” in step 3 above, and then
press
C
on the operation button (
) to select
“OFF”.
To reset the camcorder to Full Auto mode, press
on the
button to select “CAMERA MODE”
and then press
C
on the
button to select
“AUTO” in step 2.
Notes:
• When “
” is selected, recording under the light of
fluorescent lamps, mercury lamps, or sodium lamps
may cause color shifts or fluctuations in picture
brightness.
• When “
” is selected, the picture may not be
satisfactory if the lighting is very dim.
• We recommend that you use Auto mode (“SCENE
MENU: OFF”) to record outdoor parties.
•
If other manual items are adjusted after setting the
Scene Menu, the Scene Menu will automatically
return to “OFF”.
