INSTRUCTION MANUAL

Write a new message 

(Full Keypad Mic Required, Sold Separately)

You can write a text message and send it to anyone in the contact list. 

The maximum length of characters for a text message is 500.
1.  Press         button to access the menu, press       or        button to 

select Messages. 

2.  Press        or          button navigate to the New Message and press   

 

 button again to write a new message. 

3.  Once complete the message, press         to enter and press        or   

 

 button to select the target radio you wish to send the 

message to. 

4.  If the message is sent, a tone sounds and the display shows Sent. 

If the message is not sent, the display shows Failed.

Quick Message

Quick Messages are pre-saved in the radio’s memory short text 

messages that can be sent by the user through the radio Menu or an 

assigned programmable Shortcut Key. You can create up to 10 quick 

messages. Quick messages can have up to 34 characters.
1.  Press         button to access the menu. 
2.  Press         or         button navigate to the New Message.  
3.  Press        or           button to select Quick Messages, press              

button to enter the Quick Message menu. 

4.  Press          or             button to select the preset quick message and 

press            button to enter.

5.  Press          or            button to select the target radio you wish to 

send the quick message to. 

6.  If the message is sent, a tone sounds and the display shows Sent. 

If the message is not sent, the display shows Failed.

Status Message

The status messages are pre-saved in the radio’s memory short text 

messages that can be sent by the user through the radio Menu or an 

assigned programmable Shortcut Key. A Status ID is assigned to each 

text message, and the Status ID’s in all radios must match in order 

for the receiving radios to identify and display the proper messages 

associated with the Status ID.  You can create up to 127 status 

messages. Status messages can have up to 60 characters.
1.  Press          button to access the menu. 
2.  Press         or         button navigate to the New Message.  
3.  Press        or           button to select Status Messages, press              

button to enter the Status Messages menu. 

4.  Press          or             button to select the preset Status Message and 

press            button to enter.

5.  Press          or            button to select the target radio you wish to 

send the Status Message to. 

6.  If the message is sent, the radio beeps twice and the display shows 

Sent. If the message is not sent, the radio beeps once and display 

shows Failed.

Managing Sent Text Message

Once a message is sent to another radio, it is saved in Outbox. The most 

recent sent text message is always added to the top of the outbox list. 

The Outbox folder is capable of storing a maximum of ten (10) 

sent messages. When the folder is full, the next sent text message 

automatically replaces the oldest text message in the folder. 

Note:

 Press           at any time to return to the previous screen.

Viewing Sent Text Message  in Outbox

1.  Press         button to access the menu. 
2.  Press        or        button navigate to the Messages and press         .
3.  Press         or           button to select Outbox and press           . 
4.  Press          or           button to select the preset Status Message and 

press            button to enter.

5.  Press          or          button to navigate to the desired message and 

press          button.

You can select one of the following options while viewing a sent text 

message:

•  View
•  Resend
•  Edit
•  Extract Number
•  Delete
•  Delete All

To perform any of the function press       again while viewing the 

message. 
To perform any of the functions:
1.  Press         again while viewing the message. 
2.  Press        or        button navigate to View, Resend, Edit, Extract 

Number, Delete or Delete All and press          to select. 

3.  If you select [ Edit ], the radio will ask you to select the contact from 

the recipients list. 

4.  If the message is sent, the radio beeps twice and the display shows 

Sent. If the message is not sent, the radio beeps once and the 

display shows Failed.

Deleting All Sent Text Messages from the Sent Items

1.  Press         button to access the menu. 
2.  Press        or        button navigate to the Messages and press         .
3.  Press         or          button to select Outbox and press           . 
4.  Press          or           button to find  Delete All and press            button 

to enter.

5.  The display shows Delete All?, press       to confirm. The display 

shows Delete Successfully.

Receiving a Text Message

When your radio receives a message, the display shows New Message. 

Press         to view.
